Art That Really Heals!

Dec 27, 2006

The next time you put on a bandage, you might be wearing the artwork of Justin Dalcorabbo. Justin was only 11 years old when he won the grand prize in Curad's Design Your Own Bandage contest. It was the first Design Your Own Bandage contest for Curad - a popular maker of kids bandages.

The Message Behind The Art

Justin's design is a colorful bandage with the message "Heal the World." "I just wanted to make a proposal that people should heal the world because the world is sort of messed up," said Justin about his design. "Saddam Hussein, gang members, stuff like that." His design was chosen from just over 25,000 entries, all from kids 14 and under. Five other kids also won for their design but Justin's artwork took first place.

Aspiring Artist?

Justin, who's from Munster, Indiana, says art is only a hobby for him. "I've been drawing since I was little." When he grows up, Justin wants to become a stockbroker or a basketball player. Besides loving basketball, Justin also likes baseball, the saxophone and video games. What kid doesn't? Justin's design won a trip for the family to Nickelodeon Studios in Orlando, Florida.

Do you know a kid who's done something worth mentioning? They don't have to have invented a time machine or saved a life.
