Are These Phobias For Real?

Jan 08, 2019

Almost everyone is afraid of something. A lot of people suffer from arachnophobia (fear of spiders), aviophobia (fear of flying) and taphephobia (fear of being buried alive). Then there are some rare phobias that only one in a million people share. Check out these phobias and decide for yourself if any of 'em are made up.

  • Trichopathophobia - Fear of hair.
  • Peladophobia - Fear of bald people.
  • Melophobia - Fear of music.
  • Lachanophobia - Fear of vegetables.
  • Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia - Fear of long words (can you even pronounce that word?)
  • Arachibutyrophobia - Fear of peanut butter getting stuck to the roof of your mouth.
  • Unatractiphobia - Fear of ugly people.
  • Dromophobia - Fear of crossing the road.
  • Pogonophobia - Fear of beards.
  • Linonophobia - Fear of string.

I think some of those are pretty weird but I believe some of them.

All of these phobias are real, except for the fear of ugly people. It's real name is cacophobia and it's fear of ugliness, not ugly people, just uglyness in general.

What do you think? Are all these phobias really true or did we make some of 'em up? Many phobias have been around for years but new ones have formed in recent years as technology advances. Phobias can seriously affect people but they can be cured. Take our poll and see what others think or your thoughts.

Last week I wrote about Murder or Suicide? Ronald Opus jumped off a building with the intention of committing suicide but was killed when a gun went off and the bullet hit him. The story was made up but it's been around for a long time. Nothing about it was true, although it does make you think for a second. Here's what everyone voted:

Did Ronald's Death Really Happen? Vote!
