Holly Beck borrowed an old board from her uncle and started riding waves every day at 4 am at a beach near her house. She later joined her high school surf team and in her first year won the Bay League Championship. In 1996, Holly Beck began surfing in the National Scholastic Surfing Association and won titles in the open and explorers division. Her success with the NSSA gave Holly some big time exposure and got her sponsored by the world's biggest surfboard maker - Rusty Surfboards.
