Way back in 2001 Disney released a Christmas Special from a TV Show called The House Of Mouse: Mickey’s Magical Christmas: Snowed In At The House Of Mouse. Now, eight long years later (and just in time for the holidays), the same movie is being re-released on DVD.
Snow Storm
The basic storyline behind Mickey’s Magical Christmas: Snowed In At The House Of Mouse is just what the title implies. All the Disney characters (pretty much from every classic animated film, including Snow White, Cinderella, Princess Ariel and plenty of others) get stuck at a night club called The House Of Mouse when a huge snowstorm hits on Christmas.
Mickey Mouse decides to play host to all the stranded guests and tries to bring the Christmas spirit to the club. Unfortunately, Donald Duck starts acting like Scrooge at the party because he’s not having a good time. That’s when Mickey breaks out a bunch of classic Disney animated shorts to try and ease the situation.
Animated Shorts
As the guests at the impromptu House Of Mouse Christmas party watch the films, you get to do the same:
-
Donald On Ice: This animated short from 1999 is all about Donald Duck trying to learn how to skate.
- Pluto’s Christmas Tree: This animated short from 1952 is a complete classic - Pluto find two naughty chipmunks (Chip & Dale) living in the tree that Mickey chopped down for Christmas.
- The Nutcracker: This animated short from 1999 is all about a young girl (played by Minnie Mouse) who gets a wooden mouse as a present and wishes for it to become real.
- Mickey’s Christmas Carol: This popular animated short from 1983 features Scrooge McDuck being mean to everyone at Christmas until he learns a valuable lesson from several holiday spirits.
Christmas Classic?
We loved this collection of Disney animated holiday shorts (they make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside), but be careful before you buy the DVD – you may already have some or all of these films on other similar Disney Christmas collections. Plus, it doesn’t come with a lot of the interactive features that other DVDs you buy today offer.
