Each X-mas musicians put out CDs of holiday faves. Usually, the thought of an X-mas CD makes me moan but not when I heard Destinys Child had a CD. Find out if its a good stocking stuffer.

Columbia (2001)

Every Christmas a handful of musicians put out a CD of holiday favorites. Usually, the thought of throwing on a X-mas CD makes me moan but not when I learned that Destiny's Child had a release this Christmas. I thought, who better to put out a holiday CD than these girls?

One spin of 8 Days of Christmas in the CD tray and I felt like spreading a little Christmas cheer. The 12-track CD includes a bunch of classic carols and a few different grooves like 8 Days of Christmas. It's a song for today with lines like "on the eighth day of Christmas my baby gave to me, a pair of Chloe shades and a diamond belly ring." It's got Destiny's Child's signature funky grooves to it. The girls also sing A DC Christmas Medley - a mix of Santa Claus is Comin' To Town, Jingle Bells, Frosty The Snowman and other classics.

This CD is a great listen cuz it's a nice balance of slow and fast tunes to keep your X-mas party hoppin'. My fave song is Do You Hear What I Hear cuz the blending of Beyonce, Michelle and Kelly's vocal harmonies makes it a really unique version of an old fave. I wish they included Feliz Navidad on the album - I bet Destiny's Child would do a killer version similar to Boney M.'s.

8 Days of Christmas is a CD your mom and dad will probably enjoy too, which means you might be able to convince them to give Bing Crosby and Nana Mouskuri a rest.
