Tandem Skydiving :: The World’s Ultimate Thrill!

Apr 05, 2009

Have you ever wished you could fly? Well, you can! Skydiving lets you freefall through the clouds, giving you a birds-eye view of the land below. You’ll experience an exhilarating rush of wind as you freefall. And once your parachute is deployed, you can sit back and enjoy the peaceful silence and spectacular view.

What is Tandem?

There are tons of different types of skydiving (also known as parachuting). But the safest type for beginners is Tandem Skydiving. This means that you jump with a professional instructor securely attached to your back. They operate the controls, from deploying the parachute to guiding you to a safe landing. All you have to do is spread your arms, fold back your legs and enjoy the adrenaline rush.

Is it safe?

Tandem Skydiving is absolutely safe. Most of the instructors have performed thousands of jumps! In the USA, an instructor must complete over 500 jumps and have three years of skydiving experience before they can jump with someone else. So never fear! They know what they’re doing! They double check—and triple check—that you’re strapped in and comfortable. They tell you how to jump, fall and prepare for landing. Once you’re up in the plane, you’ll have no time to worry about your parachute not opening. So have no fear…it’ll open!

You Can Jump Just About Anywhere

You can skydive almost anywhere in the world—the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, Africa, New Zealand and Australia! One of the most popular places to skydive is in Queenstown, New Zealand—known as the adventure capital of the world! There you can jump at up to 15,000 feet!

Priceless Souvenirs

One of the great things about Tandem Skydiving is that you can get your jump videotaped! That’s right, for an extra fee you can have a video and pictures of your experience. Your instructor, or a separate videographer, will film you while you put on your gear, board the plane, freefall, glide and land. The video is a little pricey, but you won’t regret it when you get to relive the adrenaline rush.
