DiRT 2 :: Xbox 360 Game Review

Go offroad on your journey of life. DiRT 2 lets you take your racing all around a realistic world, but will the earth there taste like dust or mudpie?

With so many racing games out there and more coming out each year, it can be hard to make an impact and stand out as a must get. DiRT 2 definitely does a good job, as the game's graphics are as beautiful as they are dirty.

Down and DiRTy

The big difference between DiRT 2 and other racing games is the fact that you will be racing off road for the most part. And this is real off road, where the loose grounding will cause your car to skid and drift into corners and walls if you are not careful.

Those who trained at the school of Mario Kart will have a hard time getting used to DiRT 2, as simply holding down the acceleration button will simply not cut it here.

You must practice easing off the gas and braking in order to finish each race with your car undamaged. For those wishing to advance to more hardcore racing games, it is necessary to learn this. At the same time, DiRT 2 does not offer any helpful settings to ease the learning curve.

And Yet So Beautiful

Graphics and realism have become an important issue with racing games and DiRT 2 does not disappoint. Besides great looking vehicles and race courses from around the world, like Baja and Morocco, the game goes a step further and features an amazing 3D interactive menu that is super fun to navigate and use. Crashes and collisions are spectacular and you can watch your car and opposing cars break apart after each accident.

Gold or Dirt?

Overall, DiRT 2 is an impressive and well-made racing game. The off road theme offers a different look and feel for racers seeking a new kind of driving experience. It may not be appropriate for casual gamers, but for racing fans, it is perfect.
