Lauryn Hill may have been gone for awhile but shes definitely not forgotten. Now shes back with her new CD, MTV Unplugged No. 2.0 and its tight!

(Columbia) 2002

Lauryn Hill may have been gone for awhile but she's definitely not forgotten. How could we forget the talented singer after she blew us away with her 1998 hit album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill?

Lauryn Hill's latest CD, MTV Unplugged No. 2.0 is the result of a live acoustic session of new tunes Lauryn played for MTV2 on March 10, 2002. The double-disc CD is a stripped-down live set with Lauryn and her acoustic guitar. Nothing else. No drums, electric guitars, bass or keyboards - just Lauryn's beautiful vocals and the strum of her guitar. What makes MTV Unplugged so great is that it's raw and UNPRODUCED. You're able to hear Lauryn Hill's voice crack and the ring of the guitar strings along with the background noises in the audience and it sounds great! It showcases what true talent she really has. You won't see Britney Spears pickin' up a guitar for a vocal set... not unless of course her backing tapes are ready to roll.

The MTV Unplugged CD is also interesting to listen to cuz it's inspiring. In between songs, Lauryn Hill talks to the audience about life, her views of the world, and how she's changed throughout her life. She even encourages the crowd to speak up if they can't hear what she's sayin' cuz it's really important to her. On the flipside, after awhile, when you hit the second disc you might not feel like listening to what she has to say anymore. Chit chattin' aside, Lauryn Hill's MTV Unplugged No. 2.0 is the ultimate disc to listen to when you feel like chillin' with a cup of green tea and the need to be inspired. Speaking of which, if you're a hardcore bubble gum pop lover, than this isn't your cup of tea.
