Well the boys are back again with their new album Black & Blue. This will be the one that will either make them or break them.

Well, Backstreet's back - again. This time with their new album Black & Blue. This will be the one that will either make them or break them. The first single Shape of My Heart, an emotionally upbeat ballad, is getting good reviews, but I think they should have released an in-your-face dance tune. Let's face it, everyone knows that Black & Blue is up against *NSYNC's No Strings Attached and *NSYNC's 1st single, the danceable Bye Bye Bye, catapulted the album into recording-breaking sales.

BSB's The Call sets the tone for Black & Blue which is a mix of dance tunes and ballads. And yes, the guys sound more mature this time around. They're tackling bigger issues than crushes and are singing about real relationships. There is a definite soul feel, especially on the slower ballads. The best ballad - after Shape of My Heart - is More Than That. But the strongest songs on the CD are Not For Me and a couple of other upbeat tracks, Answer to Our Life and Everyone. Artistically the band has grown, but don't expect to find any songs as adrenaline filled as past tunes like Everybody (Backstreet's Back) or Larger Than Life.
