Hockey at Home :: Quiz the Coach

Jul 10, 2018

Question By: Sidney Crozbey

How do you practice hockey in your room?

Indoor Hockey

Believe it! There are a lot of ways you can practice hockey inside your house… even in your own bedroom. It’s also a really good idea to practice in your house, because sometimes it’s hard to get ice time or even a place outside if it’s raining all the time like in Vancouver!

Serious Stick Handling

Stick handling is the main focus here. For those of you who don’t know what that is… it’s when the player has the puck and maneuvers the puck in a variety of ways to fake out the defenders. If you practice stick handling anything, you’re going to get better. Practicing stick handling a soft ball with give you great hands… practicing stick handling a heavy ball will build muscles in your arms. You can even purchase synthetic ice surfaces to make your room turn into a little piece of ice.

The Green Biscuit

By far, the best product in stores right now to help you play hockey just about anywhere is a hockey puck called the green biscuit. The technology of this puck has made it possible for you to play almost anywhere with the feel of handling this puck like it’s on ice.

Youtube Teaching Techniques

Watching youtube is a great way to learn proper technique for any hockey skill. There are so many good videos on youtube that teach you how to shoot and skate properly. But make sure they’re good, because sometimes youtubers don’t know what they’re talking about. My favorite hockey teacher is “howtohockeydotcom”.
