America's Got Talent: Season 6, Episode 18 :: Quarter-Finals Round 3

Jul 27, 2011

Round 3 of the Quarter-Finals on America’s Got Talent Season 6 makes a big splash! Episode 18 aired on July 26, 2011.

First up was the Summerwind Skippers, who Piers admitted made skipping sexy. Next, the SH’Boss Boys performed an original rap song combined with a cover of ABC by the Jackson 5. While Howie thought that America will love them, Piers said the ABC part was a little too cutesy. They should stick to their rapping.

Next, Mauricio Herrera hit the stage with another of his ridiculous song and dance numbers. Howie found him funny, and even said he would buy tickets to see his show. However, Sharon felt that his galloping threw her off. Seth Grabel brought a little Houdini to his magic show. Piers had a few choice words for him: bigger, better, faster, fantastic…and those were just a few.

Poplyfe rocked the stage with Adele’s Rolling in the Deep. All three judges agreed that it was the best performance of the night. They were followed by Ian Johnson, who struggled a bit with his yo-yo act. Howie questioned whether it could be a headline act, and Piers called it boring.

Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. never disappoints. And last night was no exception. Howie thinks he’ll go all the way in the competition. Next, the Purrfect Angelz brought a little too much "Hooters Restaurant" to their performance, according to Howie. Sharon, however, loved their choreography.

Howie recognized the passion and drive behind 12-year-old Monet’s singing performance, but did it make up for all the pitchy notes? Not likely. Next, Captain & Maybelle used hooks to hang kitchen appliances from their tongue, nose and eyelids! Piers called them disgusting, which they took as a compliment.

Opera singer Lys Agnes received mixed reviews from the judges. Even though her performance didn’t move Piers, Howie found her sexy. The last act made the biggest splash of the night…literally. Professor Splash dove from 36.7 feet into a 12 inch pool of water. That’s almost three storeys high! His successful jump rendered Sharon speechless. But please, DO NOT try that at home.

After their great performance, it was a surprise to see that the Summerwind Skippers will not be moving onto the semi-finals. The four acts that did make included Poplyfe, Landau Eugene Murphy Jr., Lys Agnes and Professor Splash.
