American Idol: Season 11, Week 11 :: 9 Finalists Compete

Mar 28, 2012

This week on American Idol (Season 11, Week 11), the Top 9 contestants perform songs by their personal idols. Read Kidzworld’s recap of “9 Finalists Compete,” which aired on March 28, 2012, to discover what you missed.

Stevie Nicks

It was the contestants’ pick this week as they sang songs by each of their idols. Stevie Nicks joined Jimmy to mentor the contestants before the show. She particularly liked Phillip Phillips for his charming good looks, and told him that, had he been around when they first started the band Fleetwood Mac, they would have asked him to join!

Five Standing Ovations

This was undoubtedly one of the best performance shows in American Idol history. Not one contestant had a bad night, but some still stood out more than others. The judges agreed, and they gave a standing ovation a whopping five times!

The Best

Colton Dixon opened the show with "Everything" by Lifehouse, which earned rave reviews from the judges. Other outstanding performances included Joshua Ledet, who inspired tingles with his version of Mariah Carey’s "Without You"; Phillip Phillips, who sang "Still Rainin’" by Johnny Lang; and Elise Testone, who closed the show with an amazing rendition of "Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zepplin.

Elimination

While we didn't predict the bottom three exactly right (Heejun, Hollie and Deandre), we were pretty close. Skylar was the third member of the bottom three, along with Hollie and Heejun. Even thought this may very well have been Heejun's best vocal night of the competition, he received the fewest number of votes and was sent home.
