1Hey Coach,
I am 13 and Avril Lavigne is my role model. I know she skateboards and I wanna learn but my mom and dad won't let me get a board. They say it's too dangerous. How can I convince them?
Sk8erFreak13

Hey Sk8erFreak13,
Convincing your parents to let you do something they don't want you to do can be harder than convincing your teachers that they shouldn't give you homework. But, give it your best shot. Explain to your 'rents that you're really passionate about skating. It's better for you than spending your time watching television or hanging out at the mall. You could also point out to them that skateboarding isn't actually that dangerous. More kids are injured each year riding their bike, playing baseball or shooting hoops. If you wear the proper safety equipment (helmet, knee pads and wrist guards) and be careful, skateboarding can be as safe - or safer - than any other sport. You should also know that Avril Lavigne doesn't actually skateboard that well (and some people would argue she doesn't sing that well either,) so you may want to look for another skater role model, such as Vanessa Torres or Tony Hawk.

1Hey Coach,
My P.E. teach is a basketball fanatic. I've been in his class for two years now and I think we've played soccer twice and hockey a couple of times and all the rest of the time we play basketball. How do I get him to stop making us play basketball? I want to play other sports!
PuNKeR_RoCKeR_5

Hey PuNKeR_RoCKeR_5,
Your teacher should be teaching you a wide variety of sports and exercises, not just basketball. The best thing you can do is talk to your P.E. teacher and ask him why you can't play other sports more often. Talk to other kids in your class and ask them to speak to the teacher as well. Keep in mind that he may not have a choice. For example, there may not be enough fields available for soccer or there might not be enough equipment available to play hockey. If your teacher doesn't give you a satisfactory answer, then talk to your principal, or another P.E. teacher, and let them know what you think.

Do you have a question on sports, skateboards, skateboarding, fitness, P.E. class, rules to sports or health concerns? to the Kidzworld Coach. Keep in mind peeps, the Kidzworld Coach isn't a doctor or a professional athlete or anything like that. He's just a dude who digs sports, plays 'em and knows a lot about 'em. You should always talk to your 'rents, a doctor or your school gym teacher before starting a new sport or a new exercise.
