2013 Top 10 Baseball Players

Apr 10, 2013

Major League Baseball has 30 teams, 25 players per team, and 750 players in the entire League. So which players are the best? It's not easy choosing the top players, because baseball has so many different positions that require different skills and strategies. Kidzworld is going to pick the best player for each position to give you the 2013 Top 10 Baseball Players.

Starting Pitcher

In the past 3-4 years, one of the big reasons why the Detroit Tigers are a contender every year is because of their ace pitcher Justin Verlander. He is dominating the statistics for pitchers with wins and strikeouts every year.

1st Base

Usually 1st basemen are graded based on their hitting performance because they don't really have to do much in the field but catch the ball being thrown at them. So the best first baseman are allowed to be a little bit overweight and slow. For that reason we will give the #1 award to Prince Fielder.

2nd Base

Robinson Cano of the NY Yanks makes those tough plays look easy. He's also a great hitter and slugger.

Shortstop

Derek JeterDerek JeterCourtesy of mlb

Derek Jeter of the New York Yankees is probably the most skilled baseball player to ever play the game. Even though he's old now and there are some younger, quicker, players... Derek takes this position's best prize until the day he retires.

3rd Base

Adrian Beltre of the Texas Rangers wins this award due to his amazing glove down the line.

Catcher

For a back-catcher, the best players are the guys who can throw-out fast runners trying to steal 2nd base. You want a catcher who doesn't let wild pitches fly by him. This is why Yadier Molina of the St Louis Cardinals is the top catcher in MLB.

Fielder

Mike Trout of the LA Angels is making a run at becoming the best baseball player in baseball. He does it all... speed, power, smarts, and incredible plays like Willie Mays Hayes.

Closing Pitcher

The relief pitcher is the guy who comes in the 9th inning to seal the victory for the team winning the game. No one holds a candle to Craig Kimbrel of the Atlanta Braves. No batter wants to face him in the 9th inning with the game on the line.

Hitter

Buster Posey of the San Fransisco Giants had the best batting average in the 2012 Baseball Season. He's young and watch him do it again this year.

Slugger

A slugger is a baseball hitter that produces runs. Miguel Cabrera of the Detroit Tigers won the first triple crown in baseball since 1967. That means he won the best batting average, home runs and RBIs in his League. He is the most dangerous slugger in baseball.
