Fall Music Preview

Aug 26, 2012

It's time to head back to school, and nothing makes it feel like a fresh start than some new tunes on your playlist - and this fall has some major music releases so that you can dance your way into autumn and winter. Check out our Fall Music Preview!

Ariana Grande - Yours Truly (September 3rd)

The lead single "The Way" off Ariana's upcoming album may have been a hit summer jam, but the rest of Yours Truly promises to deliver some sweet and soulful pop.

Icona Pop - This Is...Icona Pop (September 24th)

Swedish electro-pop duo Icona Pop took over the airwaves with their infectious dance single "I Love It," and it looks like there's no stopping these crazy girls, their upcoming album This Is...Icona Pop is certain to be a party favorite, just look at their last single "Girlfriend" (you might remember the lyrics from a little Beyoncé and Jay-Z number...) If Icona Pop can't put you in a good mood, nothing can!

Drake - Nothing Was the Same (September 24th)

While most top-selling rappers are content to rhyme about their wealth and fans, Drake has always taken a more thoughtful perspective and written lyrics about everything from the emptiness of fame to his inability to truly connect with the right girl on an emotional level, we can only hope that Nothing Was the Same delivers more of his smooth style.

Justin Timberlake - The 20/20 Experience Pt.2 (September 30th)

Critics went wild over J.T's 20/20 Experience Pt.1, so it's a safe bet to say that The 20/20 Experience Pt. 2 will probably feature another set of beautifully layered pop music - touching on everything from big brass band and classic jazz age styling to modern hip hop beats and soulful vocals. Check out the promo below!

Miley Cyrus - Bangerz (October 8th)

"We Can't Stop" was a party anthem from the get-go (even though, when you think about it, it's not that fast a song.) Fans and critics alike are divided on everything Miley - from whether they like her new style to her obsession with twerking and hip hop beats. Either way, Bangerz will definitely be at the top of pop albums to check out (and debate) this fall.

Katy Perry - Prism (October 22nd)

Katy Perry has been at the top of the charts for a long time, and the retro-inspired diva looks like she's showing no signs of slowing down, Prism is for sure on our album wish-list this season.

Lady Gaga - Art Pop (November 11th)

It looks like Lady Gaga has decided to be straightforward with the album title - Art Pop is exactly the genre of music she's become famous for making, so why not make it simple? Lady Gaga is constantly innovating and leading the pack in the pop genre, so we're excited for any weird and wonderful music she decides to release. Are you ready "monsters"?

The Arcade Fire (October 29th)

For all you indie and folk-loving listeners, a new Arcade Fire album is something to get excited about. Arcade Fire are the kings of making gorgeous sounding songs that touch on themes of home, distance and everything that might make you feel nostalgic for your old 'hood. There's no title set for this one yet though, so chances are the release will be pushed back, don't hold your breath!
