Muppets Most Wanted Blu-ray Review

Aug 13, 2014

Muppets Most Wanted picks up immediately following the events of the smash hit The Muppets, as Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Animal and the entire Muppet gang head out on a world tour. But mayhem follows, as the Muppets find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine - the World's Number One Criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit the Frog!

Starring Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell, and Tina Fey, this must-own family film makes its in-home debut with THREE versions of the film: The Original Theatrical Cut, the Statler and Waldorf Cut,  and The Unnecessarily Extended Cut, featuring hilarious bonus content, plus more music, more mayhem, and more Muppets!

The Bottom Line

There's a lot to choose from when it comes to great Muppet movies, it's a franchise that's had a long and wonderful life and has included some of the best comedians and cinematic artistry over the last couple of decades. We hope The Muppets continues on it's new hot streak (there was a stretch where the movies were only being seen by die-hard fans.) The Muppets Most Wanted came out on the heels of a very successful come back film, and while some parts of TMMW can feel long, the extended version ("The Unnecessarily Extended Cut") of the movie is actually worth watching in its entirety.

The Muppets Most Wanted looks great on Blu-ray (no surprise there!), but what really sets the Blu-ray apart is the fantastic bonus material. The" Extended Cut" has jokes that definitely should have made it onto the big screen, and the Blooper Reel is probably one of the best blooper reels to accompany a Muppets film ever. No lie! For those humbugs who love Statler and Waldorf, you can probably make a pretty good guess what The Statler and Waldorf cut contains - needless to say, there are more than a few "Boos" from our two fave grumpy old guys. True Muppets fans will want this one in their collection, it's even better than it was on the big screen.

Now Muppet fans can experience this laugh and song-filled caper like never before on Blu-ray Combo Pack in an all-new “Unnecessarily Extended Edition,” featuring 12 minutes of exclusive scenes not seen in theaters! Also included on Blu-ray and Digital HD are additional hilarious bonus features, including Statler and Waldorf’s version of the movie, and the laugh-out-loud gag reel, “The Longer, Longest Blooper Reel in Muppets History.”
