Everything Old is New Again

It was a sad day when "Adventure Time" finally came off the air after it’s 8 year run last year. However, there is some hope for fans of the show that just want a few more adventures in the Land of Ooo. The show was a huge hit, spawning video games, and a huge fanbase that lasted all the way until the show's conclusion in 2018 after 10 seasons. HBO Max is bringing "Adventure Time" back for four one hour long stories that star the various characters from the show like BMO, Princess Bubblegum and eventually the heroes Jake the Dog and Finn the Human. Each episode is focused around a different character or characters with only the last of the bunch starring the show’s usual heroes. There will no doubt be tons of familiar faces that pop up as well as new and exotic locations for all new mishaps and hijinks. The miniseries is called "Adventure Time: Distant Lands" and is set to release next year in 2020.

The Episodes:

  1. "BMO" follows the lovable robot from the series. When there's a deadly space emergency in the farthest reaches of the galaxy, there's only one hero to call, and it's probably not BMO — except this time, it is.
  2. "Obsidian" features Marceline and Princess Bubblegum as they journey to the imposing, beautiful Glass Kingdom — and deep into their tumultuous past — to prevent an earthshaking catastrophe.
  3. "Wizard City" centers on Peppermint Butler, starting over at the beginning as just another inexperienced Wizard School student. Mysterious events on campus cast suspicion on Pep and his checkered past; can he master the mystic arts in time to prove he's innocent?
  4. "Together Again" reunites Finn and Jake to rediscover their brotherly bond and embark on the most important adventure of their lives.

It seems there are still stories to tell in Ooo despite the show running for 10 seasons. HBO Max is looking to have a wide breadth of kid-friendly shows, and with one of Cartoon Network’s most beloved series leading the charge, it looks like things are off to a strong start. Sesame Street is also making the move to Max, to new shows and more, it seems everyone wants a piece of the streaming service pie. How many is too many? Time will tell, but there is only going to be one place to catch the new adventures of the colorful band of characters of "Adventure Time."
