Hate Avril Lavigne being called punk? Looking for something with less pop and more thrashing than Good Charlotte? Check out new music by Billy Talent!

Are you one of those peeps who rages everytime someone calls Avril Lavigne punk? Are you still searching for a band with a truly punk vibe and not a pop-punk one? Well, you don't have to resort to old classics like The Ramones or The Dead Kennedys because now there's Billy Talent.

Billy Talent Punk Goodness:

This band rocks - hard. Billy Talent has spent years developing their sound and it shows. Billy Talent's first single, Try Honesty, has catchy lyrics and hardcore beats. Other stand-outs on Billy Talent's debut CD include Lies, Standing in the Rain and Nothing to Lose. Billy Talent's music and lyrics are edgy and unique without being full of crappy language and tantrums, which some punk bands think is key.

Billy Talent Punk Badness?

There isn't much on this album that isn't worthy of a place in your CD collection. But buyer beware if you think Avril is hardcore, you may not be ready for Billy Talent's hard guitar riffs, smashing drums and sometimes screeching choruses. However, if you've devoured Good Charlotte and want something more, Billy Talent is your best, next musical step.

Billy Talent: The Bottom Line

Billy Talent has the right mix of loose, catchy tunes, like Try Honesty and Line & Sinker, The Ex, and serious punk tunage - This Is How It Goes, Living in the Shadows and Prisoners of Today. You can play this CD in any mood that hits you and it'll satisfy. Try it - you'll like it.
