Outkast - The Beginning

Way back in the early 1990's, a couple of high school kids in Atlanta, Georgia joined forces to form the group we now know as Outkast. It started out as a single track on the LaFace Records' Christmas album (Player's Ball) and almost ten years later, Outkast has become one of the most successful hip hop acts of all-time.

Outkast - The Climb to the Top

When Outkast's single Player's Ball raced its way to the top of the charts, LaFace Records quickly jumped at the chance to sign Big Boi and Dre. Outkast was the first hip-hop act to be signed to LaFace, which was previously known more for soulful R&B than catchy hip-hop tracks. Outkast's firt disc, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, went platinum by the end of 1994 and was followed up with several more chart-topping discs. Stankonia, which came out in 2000, scored two Grammys for Outkast - one for Best Rap Album of the Year and one for Best Rap Performance by a Group or Duo. That was just the beginning to their award-winning ways.

Outkast - Hip-Hop Legends

Today, Outkast continues to tear up the charts with songs from their latest two-disc album, Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. Tracks like Hey Ya, The Way You Move and Roses have managed to win several awards and have introduced a whole new generation to Outkast's music. Not only has Outkast made waves in the music industry, Andre 3000 was also named the world's best dressed man in Esquire magazine in 2004!
