American Hi-Fi's Drew Parsons Interview

Dec 27, 2006

Jamie P: What is it like traveling all over the world?
Drew: It's amazing. I feel so privileged to get this opportunity. We were just in Japan a few weeks ago and that's my fourth trip to Japan. To be able to go to Tokyo and get on the subway and be able to get to certain neighborhoods on my own, that's a pretty amazing thing to be able to say. That I can make my way around Tokyo. So I feel really privileged. That's one of the biggest perks of being in a band, getting to do all this travel.

ashleigh: Where is the coolest place you've been?
Drew: I'd have to say Japan. Tokyo is such an amazing city, I think it's my favorite city.

michael: Is there somewhere you haven't been that you'd like to go?
Drew: I'd like to go to a lot of places. Probably Bangladesh and Cambodia. I don't know how many chances bands get to go to Cambodia but I would certainly like to go there.

Paddy: Did you guys write the song Vertigo just for the American Pie 2 soundtrack?
Drew: No, we didn't. Vertigo was just an old demo. It was one of the first songs our band made and they needed a song for the movie and they wanted a song that wasn't on the record. So we had that song lying around and we put it on that CD.

nicole: Are you really coming to Jacksonville, Florida with Bowling for Soup?
Drew: We are really coming to Jacksonville. We'll be there. Very soon.

User_name: Do you ever have trouble singing, or get stage fright?
Drew: No stage fright, but we definitely lose our voices sometimes. Usually from doing too much karaoke the night before. If we lose our voice before a show it's the worst. Luckily I sing background and so sometimes there just aren't any backgrounds and that totally sucks if that happens but you just either have to work through it or cancel shows. Luckily we've taken care of ourselves and we warm up before shows and everything to make sure that doesn't happen very often.

tricky: Are you guys coming to Illinois?
Drew: I don't know. We're trying to get to Chicago, but I don't see any dates yet for Illinois.

~!~Allison~!~: What artist is most inspiring to you?
Drew: I would have to go with Elvis Costello again. I know some of you might not know who he is, but you should check him out cuz he's a great songwriter. A great lyricist.

Auburn: When do you get alone time?
Drew: On tour you never do. The only time you have alone time is in the shower or in your bunk. No alone time, there's always somebody around.

luke: What do you do when you get some downtime?
Drew: We read, watch movies, play video games.

surfergirl: What do you like better - touring or recording?
Drew: Touring. I love playing in front of the fans every night. That's more fun than being in the studio.

ariel: What's your favorite city to play in?
Drew: [kwlink]London[/kwlink], I like playing there. Tokyo.

Taryn: Do you ever need dancers for any of your videos?
Drew: Lol. Yeah, send your dance videos to our website.

Angela: Do you have any pets?
Drew: I do. I have a Golden Retriever named Zeek. And he's really cute.

courtney: Favorite TV show?
Drew: Family Guy.

paul: Favorite movie?
Drew: Wow. That's a tough one. I'll have to get back to you on that.

cassy: Favorite food?
Drew: Ramen. But real Japanese Ramen soup. Not like the cup of noodles but a big bowl of real noodle soup. I could eat that everyday.

candy: Favorite actor?
Drew: Johnny Depp.

Drew: Thanks for coming out you guys and thanks for supporting us!
