Tony Hawk's American Wasteland: Video Game Review

Dec 27, 2006

Do you want skateboarding?
Crowd: "YEAH!"
Do you want bike riding?
Crowd: "YEAH!"
Well of course you do, cuz it's Tony Hawk's American Wasteland. Almost yearly, Neversoft produces Tony Hawk game after Tony Hawk game after Tony Hawk game. I know, it's tiresome to buy a new one every year, but it's worth it, once again.

Tony Hawk's American Wasteland - The Gist

Basically, it starts out with this guy skateboarding in Hollywood, and he picks up this comic book, of course entitled American Wasteland. This is where your skateboarding/cycling story begins. You go through the missions and do side missions or some graffiti to earn cash, but that's Story Mode. For those of you who are old school gamers of Tony Hawk games (like, the first one) then you can choose Classic Mode. There's no Easy difficulty on this one, it's either Normal or Sick.

Tony Hawk's American Wasteland - Game Flaws

This is a great game. Of course it is, it's Neversoft man! Even though there are problems, they're really minor. The only big thing in there is that Neversoft is making so many Tony Hawk games that they're starting to become stale.

DJ Rammstein's Final Word on Tony Hawk's American Wasteland

I say buy it or rent it. If you're a serious skateboarding fan then you'd probably buy it, but for the casual gamer it's great as well. Even for newcomers to the Tony Hawk series, the game is easy enough to pick up and fun at the same time.

Tony Hawk's American Wasteland Thumbs Up:

  • The graphics are good.
  • Awesome skateboarding and cycling tricks.
  • Tons of unlockables.
  • Great music, generating from rap, punk, rock, pop and other.
  • Nice how they linked all the cities together.
  • Tony Hawk's American Wasteland Thumbs Up:

  • When the guy is talking, and you have subtitles on, they don't match.
  • Even though the game is sweet, Neversoft is running Tony Hawk games dry with all the releases.
  • Mouths don't move with the words (but hey, you're skateboarding).
  • A little too much blood on bails.
  • Makes it seem so easy to perform tricks, but in reality an ollie is hard for a lot of people.
  • American Wasteland Game Rating:

American Wasteland is available for: Gamecube, Playstation 2, Xbox, Xbox 360.
