Specter used to be an ordinary albino monkey, chillin' in an amusement park, until he got his hands on a Peak Point Helmet that cranked his brainpower. Suddenly he was all "Mwa-ha-ha!" and taking over the world was cooler than bananas. He made a bunch of copies of his helmet, handed them out to other monkeys and came up with crazy plots for taking over the world! The Ape Escape games are all about you becoming a monkey-stoppin' hero for the Playstation, PS2 and PSP - here's the scoop on each one!

Ape Escape for the Playstation

Ape Escape video games for the Sony Playstation, PS2, and PSP. The original Ape Escape dropped in 1999 for the original Playstation. Specter came up with a time-traveling plot to conquer the world and it was up to you to play as Spike and travel from the time of dinosaurs, to the wacky future and into space as you battled Specter's ape minions! This was the first Playstation game that needed the Playstation DualShock controller cuz you need two joysticks to control all the cool gadgets you got to use!
Ape Escape Rating: 5

Ape Escape 2 for the Playstation 2

Ape Escape video games for the Sony Playstation, PS2, and PSP. The second ape invasion hit stores in 2003 as Specter got his Peak Point Helmet back and made another horde of monkeys. Showing up to save the day is Jimmy, Spike's cousin! You play as him as he grabs a pile of wacky gadgets and runs around battling and capturing all 300 of Specter's simian stooges in an excellent video game with a King Kong-sized chunk of wacky humor.

Ape Escape: Pumped & Primed for the Playstation 2

Ape Escape video games for the Sony Playstation, PS2, and PSP. It's party time in 2005 as Specter returns with hundreds of monkeys and 52 levels of video gamin' mayhem! Pumped & Primed is about more than just capturing monkeys though - it's a party game! You can play 44 of the levels with friends and there are eight different characters to use, including some monkeys. Unfortunately, with its sad soundtrack, repetitive levels, limited number of gadgets and so-so graphics, this Ape Escape game is weak.
