Brenda Song Interview (pg. 2)

Dec 27, 2006

Sindy: Did you have any stunt people filling in for you during the filming of Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior?

Brenda Song: I did have a stunt person and it was a guy! It was so funny for me to watch this guy walk out of the trailer looking like me in the same outfit. We couldn't use a girl because our choreographer felt that my movements were a little, well, manly. I guess that's what he was trying to say!

Sindy: Do you think there are any similarities between your own personality and London's on The Suite Life?

Brenda Song: It's difficult because we lead two very different lives. I think London is my fantasy character. I literally love stepping into her shoes every single day. She is who I wish I could be when I'm going shopping. It's hard cuz she just lives in this bubble and everything outside of it ceases to exist for her. For me I have two brothers who are constantly giving me reality checks. I love London though and there are days when I wish I could be like her and just go out and buy whatever I want, but that's fine. I think we all have those kinds of days.

Sindy: Do you and your fellow co-stars ever spend time together off set?

Brenda Song: We do. It's great because Ashley Tisdale and I have known each other for about four years before we even did the show so we were already friends so it was truly a blessing. To go everyday and have your best friend, your sister there... This whole cast is like my family. I have two brothers and Dylan and Cole, each one is exactly like one of my brothers. It's great because Kim and Phil are like my older siblings. They're the ones we go to for our problems or for advice. And on Saturdays we have a Suite Life baseball game where the twins play and Ashley and I cheerlead and we play against other shows. So we go and cheerlead for them and we're always going bowling or out for dinner. Ashley and I are always going out shopping or to get our nails done - just total girlfriend stuff.

Sindy: A lot of your Disney co-stars have been releasing albums - do you plan to pursue music anytime soon?

Brenda Song: Oh no! Not at all. I'm an actress. I guess I'll never say never but it's just something that I have yet to get into. I love singing and its so much fun but for me acting is my main focus right now. But Ashley's CD is coming out soon and I'm so excited.

Sindy: Do you see yourself staying in TV or film?

Brenda Song: I have no idea. I'd just like to keep working! Honestly. I don't know because you never know what tomorrow's going to bring you. I love the job I have and I've been very fortunate. I would love to explore different aspects of acting whether it's a movie or a drama but I just don't know. Our show is still in full swing, so for the next six months to a year I'll be focused on that and from there, who knows.

Sindy: Who has been your favorite actor to work with so far?

Brenda Song: Oh goodness, that is so hard because every actor brings something new to the experience. Oh man, I couldn't. I couldn't choose. It wouldn't be fair for everyone I've worked with; they all just bring something totally different.

Sindy: Who would you like to work with in the future that you haven't had a chance to yet?

Brenda Song: I think every girl says this but I would love to work with Matt Damon. He is one of my favorite actors so I would love to work with him.

Sindy: What do you like to do when you have some time off?

Brenda Song: It's always just such a blur when I'm not working, I'm just so busy. Usually I'm sitting at home watching movies, reading - I'm a big, big, big, big reader - just watching movies with my family. The hardest thing when I'm working is that I'm never with my family. I leave before they're even up and I come home and they're already asleep. So in all my spare time I try to spend it with my family - especially with my brothers. And my mom and I always go shopping or I call Ash and we go to lunch and just have pamper days. I'm really lucky.

Sindy: What's your favorite movie?

Brenda Song: I have so many. I just saw one recently that I liked and that was The Departed. It's definitely one of my new favorites.

Sindy: Favorite TV show?

Brenda Song: I am addicted to Lost and CSI.

Sindy: Item of clothing you can't live without?

Brenda Song: I love clothes... I think just a plain white tank top. I think that is my staple because it's something you can throw into any outfit. You can throw it on with a really fancy dress and make it casual, you can throw it on with jeans, you can put it on with tights, you can do anything with it.

Sindy: Favorite Book?

Brenda Song: I think one of my all-time favorites that I could read over and over and over is Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Sindy: What advice would you give kids looking to break into the entertainment industry?

Brenda Song: If this is what you want to do follow your dreams. Work hard. And surround yourself with good people. You won't get any where if you don't work hard.
