Bridge to Terabithia DVD Review

Feb 15, 2007

Up and comers AnnaSophia Robb and Josh Hutcherson star in the Disney flick Bridge to Terabithia - a movie that explores the importance of friendship and imagination. Find out if Bridge to Terabithia will be a classic or if it just falls flat.

Bridge to Terabithia - Friends in Low Places

Jess Aarons isn't like the other kids in his class. He's shy, quiet and loves to draw. Because he's different, Jess tends to be made fun of at school and at home. His parents are always so busy worrying about bills and his sisters that he doesn't get a lot of positive attention from them either. Things are pretty lonely for Jess until a new girl, Leslie Burke, arrives next door. She's not like any of the kids in Jess's class - with her vivid imagination and confident attitude, it doesn't take Leslie long to befriend her new neighbor.

Bridge to Terabithia - A Whole New World

Leslie knows what she wants out of life, and she knows how to get it. She isn't into sitting around and watching TV everyday after school; she wants to escape to a place that is all her own. And that's how Terabithia is born. Leslie and Josh stumble across an old tree fort, which they start renovating after school. It's here, in their own kingdom, that they express themselves the most. Jess finds it hard at first to let go and just open his mind, but as time goes on, he feels more comfortable around Leslie and her creative mind is infectious. Jess is painting more, Leslie gets the pet she always wanted and life is good.

Bridge to Terabithia - Friends Forever

Just when everything is coming together for Jess, something terrible happens that turns his life upside down. He doesn't know how to cope, and day after day, he slips into deeper depression. His family worries about him, but only one thing will prove to help him through this tough time - his friendship with Leslie.

Bridge to Terabithia - DVD Features

If you have to read Bridge to Terabithia at school, grabbing a copy of the DVD could really help you out on that next book report. No, we're not saying to skip reading the book - just to watch the cool DVD features after you've finished it. There's a great featurette explaining the various themes of the book and there's commentary from both Josh Hutcherson and AnnaSophia Robb!

Bridge to Terabithia - Bottom Line

The trailers for Bridge to Terabithia are a bit misleading. While there are elements of magic and fantasy, that's not the main theme of this flick. It's an amazing story of friendship and growing up that everyone will relate to - kids and parents. Just be sure to bring a few tissues along to the theater cuz this story has a way of creeping up and tugging your heartstrings when you least expect it.
