Hilary Duff is giving her music career another shot and Timbaland is taking another stab at rap stardom. Who has what it takes to make it in this battle of the underdogs?

Hilary Duff gives her music career one more try after taking a few years out of the biz, and Timbaland is trying yet again to be taken seriously as a rapper. It's a battle of the underdogs. Who has what it takes?

Hilary Duff - Dignity

Back from a tree year hiatus, Hilary Duff's music career is about to take off. Her latest effort, Dignity, has a pure electronic sound that dance-music lovers are sure to enjoy. Hilary maintains her dignity while purring along to cool '80s style dance tunes and funky Balinese-inspired riffs that will get you on the dance floor. Hilary's sound is both completely commercial yet artistically worthwhile. Sorry Joel, looks like Hilary's got her groove back.

Hilary Duff - Dignity Fun Facts

  • Hilary co-wrote all the tracks with the exception of Outside of You.
  • An early version of the song Happy appeared on the Material Girls soundtrack.
  • Hilary has said that some of the songs have "shades of Depeche Mode, Gwen Stefani and Madonna."

    Timbaland - Shock Value

Producer to the stars, Tim "Timbaland" Mosley is taking his fifth stab at making it as a successful rapper with Shock Value. While he's able to spin gold for stars like Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake, he seems immune to his own brand of magic. The disc relies too heavily on Timbaland's famous friends (dude, this is supposed to be a solo album) and Timbaland just can't keep up. Timbaland's terrible lyrics don't help matters. Try to keep a straight face when he rhymes about having the "remedy" when your butt has "the hiccups." Who knew Timbaland was such a fan of Bean-O?

Timbaland - Shock Value Fun Facts

  • A fake release of Shock Value was "leaked" to the Net in mid-March 2007 that contained old Timbaland songs. The real album was leaked less than a week later.
  • Bjork, Jay-Z and Kanye West were supposed to be part of the album but the songs they were featured on didn't make the final cut.
  • Elton John is listed as one of the producers on Shock Value and even sings on 2 Man Show!
  • Timbaland - Shock Value Hot Tracks

Give it to Me; Bombay; Bounce

    Timbaland - Shock Value Rating:2
