Armor-wearing Heath Ledger stars in the medieval summer hit A Knights Tale. Find out how the soundtrack - with rock songs from Queen, David Bowie,Third Eye Blind and Robbie Williams rates.

2001 (Sony/Columbia)

Everyone knows how important it is to have good tunes in a movie. Movies aren't just about heartthrobs, story lines and special effects. Music plays a huge part in setting the mood for a scene.

In the liner notes for A Knight's Tale soundtrack director Brian Helgeland says "Rock & Roll. From the very start it was what A Knight's Tale and the characters of William Thatcher and his medieval band mates were all about. Youth. Identity. Freedom." Most of the classic songs that were chosen for A Knight's Tale have all stood the test of time. They're powerful rock songs that may be familiar to some listeners but could be new for other moviegoers.

I think it's great the movie introduces younger fans to artists like Queen, (before there was Prince), David Bowie, Heart, Eric Clapton and soul group Sly & The Family Stone. The movie starts, as does the soundtrack, with Queen's powerful We Will Rock You. The soundtrack also has the ultra cool Low Rider - a song by War you'll definitely want to crank up a notch. Most people will probably recognize Takin' Care of Business and The Boys Are Back In Town but may not be familiar with the bands Bachman-Turner Overdrive and Thin Lizzy. The CD also has a couple of newer songs like Third Eye Blind's Eye Conqueror and a remake of We Are The Champions with Robbie Williams and Queen.

If you liked the movie A Knight's Tale then this CD is a definite must-have for your soundtrack collection. And if you've heard the soundtrack and dig the tunes, then you might want to hit the theater and catch that sexy Heath Ledger in medieval gear and passionate lip-locks!
