Lucy Walsh Interview (pg. 2)

Jul 10, 2018

Sindy: Do you worry about being taken seriously as an artist in your own right and stepping out from your father's shadow?
Lucy Walsh: I don't ever worry about being taken seriously as an artist, I am too busy kicking ass with my music. Getting my record deal with Island Def Jam has been so exciting. I get paid to be me!

Sindy: You used to be a backup singer for Ashlee Simpson - has she been a big supporter of your solo career?
Lucy Walsh: Ashlee and I have been friends so long, we will always be supportive of each other's music. We used to sit and dream about being performers, and now look at us!

Sindy: It's become fairly common these days for young, talented women in LA to get themselves in trouble with drugs and the law. How do you keep yourself out of that scene?
Lucy Walsh: I find the issue of female celebs in trouble with the law quite boring. I say, if you're going out with plans of partying, jump in a cab or hire a driver!

Sindy: It's difficult to get a career in the entertainment industry off the ground. How do you motivate yourself to keep going when you have set backs?
Lucy Walsh: As I musician, I experience big breaks and disappointments daily. I have always been doing music, now I just happen to be getting paid for it. My point is - the pure love of the music is what keeps me going. The celebrity and attention are just the icing on the cake.

Sindy: What advice would you give to young people who dream of a career in the music industry?
Lucy Walsh: To those who dream of a career in music, prepare to work harder than you have ever worked in your life, and when you make it big, get ready for the real work to begin!
