Final Fantasy blasted into theaters on July 11th. Can it beat the rap of being a video-game movie? Yes! Final Fantasy rocks! Check out what Kidzworld has to say about this hot new flick.

I've been waiting to see Final Fantasy on the bigscreen for over a year now and after watching it I'm totally impressed. It's an all computer-graphics movie based on a hit video game from Squaresoft and it rocks!

In the future, humans have built seriously awesome toys. Huge high-tech spaceships, giant gobs of ooze instead of parachutes, virtual reality computer systems and super cool vehicles. But there are some serious problems.

34 years ago a meteor slammed into Earth and brought invaders. The meteor was crammed full of aliens and now Earth is crawling with them. There are 7 foot (2m) tall tentacle things, big flying worms and even gigantic aliens the size of skyscrapers. These things could pick up a 7-11 and swallow it whole - slurpee machine and all.

The aliens are called Phantoms and they're transparent - you can see through them - so you get to see all their inside bits - bones, organs and of course their big sharp teeth. These things are brutal. They can walk right through walls and people, but if they go through a person that's it, game over, the person is toast. Oh yeah, they're invisible too. Yowzers!

With big bad aliens running around humans are in trouble. Ever since the alien meteor slammed into the Earth, humans have been getting their butts kicked. Everybody's stuck inside cities with huge anti-alien forcefields to keep the nasties out.

It's up to Dr. Sid's (Donald Sutherland,) his crazy theories, and the heroics of his beautiful young assistant Aki (Ming-Na) to save the human race. Meanwhile, General Hein (James Woods) is trying to convince the council to let him use his monster Zeus Cannon to blast the aliens and risk destroying the Earth in the process.

Aki and the Deep Eyes team that protects her is all that stand between the Phantoms, General Hein and the end of all life on Earth.

The biggest thing about Final Fantasy:The Spirits Within is that it's all computer graphics, like Toy Story but the graphics are so good that it looks like real people on the screen. Everything from the characters to the aliens and the ground they stand on is computer generated and looks incredible. The detail is incredible - right down to moles, hair and computer generated dirt.

The action is hardcore, it's nothing cute and cuddly. This film has grit. People get killed, the Phantoms are totally creepy and you won't see any Pokemon at all. Final Fantasy out-raids Tomb Raider as the best video-game movie ever.
