Alanis Morissette's Start

Canadian singer, Alanis Nadine Morissette, became one of the most popular female singer/songwriters of the '90s. When Alanis Morissette was ten, she starred on the hit Nickelodean TV show You Can't Do That on Television. When Alanis Morissette was 14 she signed a recording contract with MCA Canada. Alanis Morissette spent her teen years as a pop diva before fading from the limelight.

After high school, Alanis Morissette moved from Toronto, Canada to LA where she was was fortunate enough to hook up with songwriter/producer Glen Ballard (known for his work with Michael Jackson.) He pushed Alanis Morissette to explore edgier themes in her music. Alanis Morissette's style changed from dance pop to alternative rock and the result was her album Jagged Little Pill, which turned Alanis Morissette into a mega-star.
