Blue Dragon Plus :: DS Game Preview

Jul 16, 2018

Whether you're a fan of the Xbox 360 game or the Cartoon Network series, Blue Dragon Plus is bringing new real-time strategy gameplay to the Nintendo DS this month! Through a combination of old-school 2d sprites and beautiful full-motion animation, you'll experience a whole new story as Shu must once again save the world, one year after the original game ended. King Jibral and Zola have found an evil dragon shadow in one of the cube worlds from outside the planet's core, as you control Shu and over 15 other characters to find out what's going on.

All-New Gameplay

Blue Dragon Plus uses a new RTS gameplay for fast-paced tactical action, but keeps the interesting RPG elements that let you customize your characters. Developing your characters is important, because you'll often have to divide them up into two teams to better take on a battle. If you've played or seen Children of Mana, this game has the same developer and roughly the same gameplay. The most amazing thing about the game is the amount of animated cutscenes they could cram into a DS game, which really rewards the player after beating each level.

The Series Lives On

Ever since the original Blue Dragon came out for the Xbox 360, we've seen anime, manga, and even a card game for the amazingly popular series. This is the direct sequel to the 360 game, so this is the only place you can see the rest of the story. But, if you haven't experienced the storyline before, the DS game is nice enough to re-introduce everything, making it just as good as if it were on its own, which is probably the reason there's no big number "2" on the cover. The game has been successful in Japan for five months now, so it'll definitely be about time when this one hits the United States and Canada on February 24th.
