Rag Doll Kung Fu, Braid, and Dokapon Journey

Apr 09, 2009

Keep up-to-date with all the latest video game releases! Kidzworld has all the latest games to keep watch for. This week, we preview Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic, Braid, and Dokapon Journey.

Everybody Was Kung Fu Fighting

Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic is a cleaned up reimagining of the original Rag Doll Kung Fu, this time on the Playstation Network. The controls for the old Rag Doll Kung Fu were pretty difficult to handle, but they've been simplified and turned into a sort of Super Smash Bros. multiplayer fighting game that looks like a lot of fun. The sweet multiplayer is combined with a surprisingly strong single-player. If you've got a PS3 and three or four controllers/friends, this should be a really fun one.

Who Says Games Are Stupid?

Not anyone who's played Braid. If you're tired of all the blood and gore a lot of major games are full of, this is probably the opposite. It's a 2D platformer, like Super Mario Bros., but with puzzles, like the newer Mario vs. Donkey Kong games. This would only make for an average game, but the writing and art is interesting and there's one more gameplay element: time travel. If you die, you can quickly rewind and wipe it out. In fact, a lot of the puzzles require that you pause and rewind time to get past obstacles. It's interesting and fun, and now you can get it on the PC instead of just the Xbox 360.

"The Friendship-Destroying RPG"

Dokapon Journey is an interesting mix of board game and RPG that encourages players to betray their friends in what they are calling "The Friendship-Destroying RPG". Though the game is multiplayer against all the normal creatures you would expect to find in an RPG, the board game elements make it so that there is only one winner among you and your friends. Therefore, you can do all kinds of dirty stuff, like jumping into a friend's fight and finishing off the creature they had been fighting for a long time, claiming all the loot yourself. Up to 4 can play, conquering towns and customizing their characters as they move on to try and become the champion of Dokapon!
