Montessori Music
Montessori Music (called Music for Everyone in some countries) is a DS game that really teaches you to read and play music through play. If you've ever seen sheet music and wanted to find out how you can transform it into the actual sounds yourself, this game will let you. Mini-games let you clap to the beat, or find the right interval between notes, all the while unlocking playable music right on your DS. If Guitar Hero made you like playing music, this game will give you the next step down that road.
Cave Story
Cave Story is probably the best independent video game of all time. For six years now, it's been available for free online for the PC. But the game totally belongs to be released on the Wii, because it's in the style of an old NES or Super Nintendo game, with sweet retro music and graphics. The gameplay's a lot like Castlevania with upgradeable laser guns, and the story is shockingly good. If you only buy one Wiiware game ever, this should probably be it.
