US and Canada Nationals Pokémon Tournament Happening this Weekend!

Jul 02, 2012

The National tournaments for other countries have already wrapped up, but the biggest ones are just around the corner! If you are going to be in the Indianapolis or Toronto area this weekend, you may want to dedicate your day to Pokémon and try to win a trip to Hawaii!

The Ultimate Pokémon League

The US Nationals tournament will be going down at the Indianapolis Convention Center while the Canadian Nationals tournament will happen at the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel near the Toronto International Airport. Both tournaments will start with the Trading Card Game on Saturday and video game trainers will get to shine on Sunday.

Like always, there are three divisions:  Juniors (born in 2001 or later), Seniors (born between 1997 and 2000), and Masters (born in 1996 or earlier). In each division, the top two trading card players can win a travel award to the Worlds Championship Tournament that includes flight to Hawaii and hotel expenses for your family. Video game players get an even better deal. The top four in each division can earn a travel award!

To Be the Very Best

If you want to play in the trading card tournament, you will need at least five Play! Points, which can be earned by playing in smaller tournaments and playing at your local league. Luckily, if you don’t need to have any Play! Points to register for the video game tournament on Sunday. Just make sure you show up early to sign up!

Of course, you will also need a legal deck of cards to play in the trading card game tournament. Anything from the past two years is allowed. For the video game tournament, you will need to have Pokémon Black or White and a legal team for double battle. Legendaries are banned!
