Oculus Rift Price & Release Date Revealed

Jan 06, 2016

The Oculus Rift VR headset is now available to pre-order and comes with a hefty price tag of $600 US Dollars.

The first batch of Oculus Rift virtual reality headsets are going out in March but that allotment as well as April's have already sold out, with the most up to date info stating May 2016 as the earliest ship date.

For your whopping $600 investment you get the Oculus VR Headset, sensor, Oculus Remote, cables (obviously) and a Xbox One controller to play its two included games, EVE: Valkyrie and Lucky's Tale. Both games can be seen in the trailer below.

At this price it will be interesting to watch the Oculus adoption rate considering how few people out there actually have PC's powerful enough to run the Oculus hardware. "Nvidia says that by 2016, there will only be 13 million computers in the world powerful enough run games that come with virtual reality graphics" according to ibtimes.

This could give Sony and its own Virtual Reality headset for PlayStation 4 an opportunity to steal the spotlight since there are already over 35 million PS4's in the wild capable of running PS VR.
