February 2018's Free PlayStation Plus and Xbox Games With Gold

Feb 02, 2018

By: Max Cannon

Every month Sony and Microsoft release a slew of "free" games on their respective platforms if you are already paying for an online subscription for either company. You don't need the newest console to take part as both PlayStation Plus and Xbox's Games With Gold offer games on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (and even PlayStation Vita.)

The New Games of PlayStation Plus

Starting Tuesday, February 6th you can get these upcoming games for free if you have a PlayStation Plus subscription.

  • Knack (PlayStation 4)
  • RiME (PlayStation 4)
  • Spelunker HD (PlayStation 3)
  • Mugen Souls Z (PlayStation 3)
  • Exiles End (PlayStation Vita)
  • Grand Kingdom  (PlayStation Vita, Cross-Buy with PlayStation 4)
  • Starblood Arena (PlayStation VR)

Here's what PlayStation had to say about their big headliners on PS4:

"First up, we have RiME. This single player puzzle adventure is set in a beautiful world where you play as a young boy who has awakened on a mysterious island after a torrential storm. Armed with your wits and a will to overcome, you must explore this mysterious island, reach the tower’s peak, and unlock its closely guarded secrets." Rated E for Everyone.

"Next up is the family friendly adventure game Knack. Take control of Knack and his signature size-shifting abilities to protect the world from a dangerous threat – the invading Goblin Army. Knack is a fun-filled adventure that lets players wield fantastic powers and discover a uniquely vibrant world." Rated E for Everyone.

A pair of E-rated games are always welcome at Kidzworld and both of these games are perfect for PlayStation Plus. Knack has been predicted for Plus since the launch of the PS4, a good chance for players who want to try last year's Knack 2 and see what it's all about. RiME is interesting because the game was initially supposed to be a Sony Interactive Entertainment project before Sony pulled the plug and the team went independent, in the end it looked like RiME was destined to strike some sort of deal with Sony.

Xbox - February 2018 Games with Gold

Here's how Xbox described their big games of the month:

"Take on the role of Lo Wang, a shogun abandoned and left for dead by the corporation he used to work for. Now he must continue alone on the mission he was sent on – to retrieve a blade of unlimited power and fight demon gods from another world! Use an extensive range of weapons and magic to vanquish and banish Lo Wang’s enemies. Combine serious action with some well-placed juvenile humor and you have the recipe for a great action game." Rated M for Mature.

"Experience the Assassin’s Creed franchise in a whole new way in Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India. This unique take on the franchise brings the series’ epic gameplay to a 2.5D side-scroller experience. Plan wisely and solve puzzles while traversing the beautiful scenery without being discovered, obtaining new skills and items along the way." Rated T for Teen.

My Winner This Month:

Another month with some awesome PlayStation games. Knack has been rumored for so long that I almost didn't believe it when I saw it and RiME has been on my radar for awhile so this is a great excuse to jump in.
