Check Out Galarian Ponyta - Exclusive to Pokémon Shield

With Pokémon Sword and Shield coming soon, more and more pieces of news are slowly dropping. As with every mainline Pokémon game, there are subtle differences between each version beyond just the catchable Legendary Pokémon on the cover. If you’re leaning toward picking up Pokémon Shield, you’ll get a chance to catch the new Galar Region version of the classic Generation 1 Fire-Type Pokémon, Ponyta.

Meet Galarian Ponyta in Pokémon Shield!

• Type: Psychic
• Height: 2'7"
• Weight: 52.9 lbs.
• Ability: Run Away/ Pastel Veil

Unlike the Generation 1 version, Galarian Ponyta is a Psychic-Type Pokémon. Galarian Ponyta is connected very closely to nature, and has the ability to store the energy of the forest it resides in within it’s mane. If Ponyta’s mane starts glowing, you’ll know you are in an area rich with energy.

Galarian Ponyta has another special ability called "Pastel Veil" that prevents friendly Pokémon from being poisoned, which could prove very useful in team battles. We haven’t seen the Galarian Form of Ponyta’s evolution, Rapidash just yet but it is obvious we’ll see it when the game launches if not before.

Pokémon Sword and Shield are releasing November 15^th, 2019 exclusively for Nintendo Switch. There will also be a special Pokémon themed Nintendo Switch Lite coming out around the same time in case you want a cheap and easy way to jump into the Galar Region.
