LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Delayed to 2021

But! Xbox Series X and PS5 versions confirmed + a new trailer!

Sep 02, 2020

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga looks to be the biggest shake-up of the LEGO formula yet. Instead of just being a simple remake of the classic game LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga, Skywalker Saga is bringing LEGO games into the next generation from the ground up. New controls, shooting mechanics, cinematic lightsaber duels, flying sections all available in an immersive game that lets you experience the entire Star Wars story from The Phantom Menace to The Rise of Skywalker.

A Brand New LEGO Experience

This game will be a new standard for LEGO games to come. At first, the LEGO games used charming miming to tell the story of the films. This time, every episode has  brand new dialogue that instead of just pasting speech directly from the films allows TT Games to create fun new moments of comedy. From the trailer, the voices portraying our favorite Star Wars characters sound pretty spot-on, just with a bit funnier. The last time a LEGO game transported players to a Galaxy Far, Far Away was in LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but even that chapter has been totally redone.

The gameplay this time is updated too, with blaster fights playing out in a familiar third-person shooter format like Fortnite. Lightsaber duels see you dodging and rolling around foes not too unlike Jedi: Fallen Order, and ships fly through fully 3D space blasting and dodging incoming lasers. No LEGO game before this has offered this much freedom. One of the best parts, you can play any of the episodes in any order you want. Just want to play the original trilogy? You can! Prequel or sequel fan? Jump right in and experience those stories.

Coming to Next-Gen

The game had already been confirmed to be coming out on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and the Nintendo Switch. It was announced that Skywalker Saga will also be hitting the brand new next-gen systems PS5 and Xbox Series X when it launches in Spring 2021. It is unclear what specific upgrades those versions will see, but expect high resolutions and silky smooth gameplay for sure.
