O'Ryan Interview (pg. 2)

Dec 27, 2006

Sindy: Will you be working with your brother at all?
O'Ryan: Yes. Soon we'll be doing songs together and all of that stuff, most definitely.

Sindy: Cool. Do you ever worry about being compared to them?
O'Ryan: Well, I don't worry about it. It's pretty much a given. That's how I look at it. And he is my brother so, if I'm going to be compared to anyone, I'd rather it be my brother than some stranger that I don't know.

Sindy: Are you going to be touring at all?
O'Ryan: After the album releases and all that I will probably get on a tour or do one of my own. Pretty soon.

Sindy: You're only 16! So, you must still be in school? Will you be heading back to school in the fall?
O'Ryan: Well, actually I do home school. So my teacher faxes the work to me or emails it to me and then I do it and email it back and stuff.

Sindy: Wow, that sounds cool. So, who were your musical influences growing up?
O'Ryan: Michael Jackson, The Temptations, The Dells, Stevie Wonder, Smoky Robinson and a lot of really, really like old school stuff.

Sindy: And who do you listen to now?
O'Ryan: Now I still listen to the old school music because it inspires me to work harder because back in the day when they used to record, they didn't have reverb or all the studio tricks and they couldn't do as many takes, they had to sing it all the way through. So I really respect that and I look up to them because they worked really hard to really lay down the maps for young guys like me trying to do the same thing that they did.

Sindy: Is there anyone specific you would like to work with in the future?
O'Ryan: Probably, Nelly.

Sindy: Who would you like to tour with?
O'Ryan: I would want to tour with my brother more than anything, yeah.

Sindy: Has he given you any advice about what you're up against?
O'Ryan: Yeah, he's given me a lot of advice. Just stay humble and stay focused because this is a business where it's like night and day, you know? One day you can be hot, one day you can be not and be forgotten. So take advantage and be focused and be smart about the decisions that you make.

Sindy: Okay, here's a questions for all the girl's out there - do you have a girlfriend?
O'Ryan: No, I don't have a girlfriend.

Sindy: Too busy?
O'Ryan: Yeah, too busy. I don't get to interact with girls like that cuz I'm so, like, on the run.

Sindy: Well, what kind of qualities do you look for in a girlfriend?
O'Ryan: Just honesty, loyal and into her family, and is funny. I don't look for any kind of particular look or whatnot. Just anyone who's fun to be with and stuff.

Sindy: Okay, well to wrap this up, how about some advice for kids out there who wanna do what you're doing?
O'Ryan: Just to work really, really hard on your craft. Try to perfect to the highest level and be the best at whatever you do. And to just never give up.
