Duel Masters TCG: Thundercharge of Ultra Destruction Set Review

Dec 27, 2006

The Thundercharge of Ultra Destruction expansion is bringing 60 new cards to the Duel Masters Trading Card Game and we have the 411 on 'em right here. Gary reviews everything from the new Charger and Stealth powers to the Super Rare cards and more. Check out what he has to say, right here.

New Powers in the Thundercharge of Ultra Destruction Set

This [kwlink]Duel Masters set[/kwlink] has two and a half new powers to add new strategies to your deck. Here they are.
  • Charger - The Charger power lets you put the card into your Mana Zone after you cast it. This one appears only on Spell cards.
  • Stealth - This is a creature power and comes in five flavors - Water, Life, Darkness, Nature and Fire. If you have a Water Stealth creature and your opponent has Water cards in his Mana Zone, he can't block your creature!
  • Can't be Attacked - This power doesn't have a name, but there are creatures in this set that can't be attacked.
  • Rockin' and Rollin' With the Thundercharge of Ultra Destruction

There are a lot of good cards and powers in this expansion set. Charger lets you summon big monsters fast and creatures that can't be blocked can attack and, unless your opponent has Blockers, they can't smush the creature afterwards!

Problems with the Thundercharge of Ultra Destruction

Ok, creatures that power up when you have no Shields left? Gimme a break! Cards that only work when you're losing are weak compared to cards that will help you win. The Stealth power isn't too hot either because it only works against one Civilization so if your opponent isn't playing that Civilization, it's useless.

The Final Word on Thundercharge of Ultra Destruction?

This set has some weak cards, but the Charger cards and creatures that can't be attacked, like the awesome Otherworldly Warrior Naglu, are crucial if you want to kick butt! There are also tons of other good cards, including a few that do wacky things as soon as they get destroyed, that make it worth grabbing a few boosters of Thundercharge of Ultra Destruction.

Thundercharge of Ultra Destruction Thumbs Up:

  • Cards that can't be attacked are great!
  • Charger cards = big creatures, faster.
  • Cards that do stuff when they're destroyed.
  • Cool art and fun quotes.
  • Thundercharge of Ultra Destruction Thumbs Down:

  • Stealth cards are weak.
  • Cards that power up when you're out of Shields? Ick.
