New Super Mario Bros.: DS Video Game Review

Dec 27, 2006

Mario is back and he's brought his bro Luigi along for an adventure on the Nintendo DS. It all starts when Mario and Princess Peach are out for a walk when suddenly clouds and lightning appear over the palace. Mario runs off to investigate, Bowser jumps out of bush, grabs the Princess and hauls shell to his nearest evil fortress with Mario hot on his heels! Here's Gary's review.

Mushroom Kingdom Adventures on the Nintendo DS

The New Super Mario Bros. video game is packed with classic gamin' action. You run around jumping on the heads of critters to stomp them, smashing bricks to get power-ups, collecting coins for extra lives and grabbing mushrooms for cool powers. It's also crammed full of bonus levels and mini-games.

Awesome Power-Ups in the New Super Mario Bros. Game

Not only is this game easy to play, with great graphics and a good sense of humor, it's also loaded with mini-games and cool new power-ups! Mario can supersize himself with a mondo mushroom and go stomping around like Godzilla or strap on a blue shell for demolition derby slide attacks. He can even shrink down! Plus, you can play multiplayer games and the other player doesn't even need a copy of New Super Mario Bros.!

Super Lameness in the New Super Mario Bros. Game

Other than the complete lack of a story, the biggest bummer is that you only really use the touch screen for the mini-games. It would have been nice to see some extra options for it.
