E3 2001 Video Game Convention Wrap Up

Dec 27, 2006

E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, touched down in LA. It showed us a glimpse of another world, a better world, a world filled with video games and fun. Here's the lowdown on news and previews that were announced.

Playstation 2

The Sony Playstation 2 is loading up on big names. So far the PS2's biggest weakness is a lack of famous game characters.

Check out who's joining the lineup:
  • Metal Gear Solid 2
  • SSX Tricky - it's under construction.
  • Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.
  • Dragonball Z.

  • These big name titles are bringing some celebrity firepower to the PS2 system

    Xbox

Big Bill and his big black Xbox are moving ahead at full steam. The launch date has been set for Nov. 8th at $299.00 per box. The games are looking good and the Xbox has been signing deals with big names all over the place.

Check out what's coming up for the Xbox:

  • WWF Raw is War - Hit the mat with your fave pro wrestlers.
  • Halo - The prettiest action/strategy game ever.
  • The Simpsons Road Rage - Crazy driving action with everyone's fave family.
  • A.I. - The upcoming movie starring Haley Joel Osment is going to be a game on Xbox.

  • Nintendo Gamecube

Wow, these guys are crazy. Nintendo's slashing their prices on the Gamecube in a major way. The PS2 and the Xbox are priced around $299.00 US - the Gamecube is starting out at $199.00 US. That makes it $100 easier to convince your folks to get you one as a present.

    Nintendo

Here's the list of games that'll be ready for the Gamecube when it launches:

  • Luigi's Mansion - Luigi's on his own investigating a haunted house.
  • Super Smash Bros. Fast and furious multiplayer action with all your fave characters.
  • Star Fox Adventure: Dinosaur Planet - A huge Starfox adventure with dinosaurs galore.
  • WaveRace: Blue Storm - The name may change but the racing action will be just as hot.
  • NBA Courtside 2002 - Kobe Bryant's in the house!

  • Nintendo's hardware may not have the firepower of the Xbox but it has everything else going on.

The three big systems are going to war for your gaming dollar. Who's your fave? What do you think of the upcoming games? Click to speak your mind.
