Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes Game Q&A :: Plot, Gameplay & Graphics

Jul 10, 2018

Check out the fourth in our series of exclusive interviews with makers of Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes, set to be released on October 6, 2009.

This week we asked assistant producer Xavier Rodriguez about plot, gameplay and graphics.

Plot, Gameplay & Graphics

KW: What platforms will players be able to play the game on?
XR: Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PC, PS2, PSP and DS.

KW: What’s the basic storyline of the game?
XR: The story picks up where season one of the animated series left off. Players will join Anakin and Ahsoka on Ryloth. The Jedi have just liberated the planet from Separatist forces, but there are still isolated pockets of droid resistance, and they’re not exactly programmed to surrender. They’ll soon themselves involved in a galaxy-wide conspiracy, and we’ll be joining other Jedi on other planets as they try to stop the Separatists and Cad Bane from recovering and detonating a doomsday device that threatens an entire solar system.

KW: What is gameplay like in the game? Is it comparable to any other Star Wars titles?
XR: Clone Wars is a co-operative action adventure title. It definitely owes some inspiration to Lego Star Wars and Episode 3.

KW: What is the view like in the game?
XR: Third person.

KW: What are the graphics like/what are the differences in graphics between platforms?
XR: From the beginning of the project we made it a clear priority to successfully translate the animated look of the show. The models, vehicles and droids in the game are actually animation assets that we’ve ported over to the game.

KW: Are there any unlockable/bonus characters in the game?
XR: There 10 unlockable clone characters and eight unlockable Jedi. And yes, Cad Bane is an unlockable character!

KW: Can any of the characters be customized?
XR: Sort of – while you can’t tweak individual characters to your liking, there are a variety of unlockable, wearable masks and ability unlocks to enjoy. You can purchase them from the Shop with points you earn in game.

KW: Can players control any vehicles in the game? If so, which ones?
XR: The AT-TE and STAP are playable vehicles in Republic Heroes.

KW: Any downloadable or future downloadable content planned?
XR: I wouldn’t rule out the possibility. Keep your ears to the ground.
