Gran Turismo, Kingdom Hearts, and Tornado Outbreak

Sep 25, 2009

Keep up-to-date with all the latest video game releases! Kidzworld has all the latest games to keep watch for. This week, we preview Gran Turismo, Kingdom Hearts, and Tornado Outbreak!

Gran Turismo PSP

The long-delayed PSP version of Gran Turismo looked like it might never arrive. It seemed that all was lost, and yet now, finally, this week the game will be released. There's no career mode this time around (for some reason), but the Playstation driving game has finally made it onto the PSP, with over 800 cars and tons and tons of tracks, both real and fictional. Ad-hoc four-player racing and driving challenges which basically make up the old license tests from earlier games round out the game modes. Finally, Gran Turismo PSP has allowed me to drive in a race virtually while driving in a race in reality (it turns out it wasn't a great idea).

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days

Alright, if you don't know what Kingdom Hearts is, it's an RPG using both Final Fantasy and Disney characters in the same world, and it's great, and you should certainly play it, but you might not want to start in the middle of the storyline with this game for the DS. You know why? Because here's Wikipedia's plot summary: "The game revolves around Roxas, the Nobody of Sora, the series' main protagonist, born when Sora's body vanished as he briefly lost his heart and became a Heartless, and joining Organization XIII, a group of powerful Nobodies who served as the main antagonists of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts II. Like Sora, Roxas has the power to wield the Keyblade, a weapon normally used for battling darkness." If that makes sense to you, you probably already want this game. If not, you have a bit of work to do before this will be worth your while.

Tornado Outbreak

Tornado Outbreak is a bit like a not-quite-so-crazy Katamari game, in that you go around taking away pieces of the environment to make youself bigger and better at picking up pieces of the environment (you're a tornado in this game, by the way!). Like Katamari, you try to strategize how you roll everything up and you can work co-operatively with another player. Unlike Katamari, you're a TORNADO(!), some things take time to destruct and absorb, and your character can develop new abilities over time.
