So You Think You Can Dance 6 Vegas Week

Oct 08, 2009

So You Think You Can Dance traveled across America in search of talented dancers. But now the auditions are over and 152 of America’s best dancers are heading to Sin City to fight for a spot in the top 20. It’s Vegas week on So You Think You Can Dance Season 6!

The Dancers’ Fate

This week the dancers showed their versatility by performing their solos along with other dance styles. In the first round, all the dancers performed their solos. Each judge gave the dancers a yes or no; at least 3 out of 6 yeses earned them a spot in round two. By the end of the solo round, only 111 dancers remained.

Hip-Hop Round

The week’s couples performances began with Hip-Hop. There were a few surprising eliminations in this round, specifically the season’s best b-boy, Jean Lloret. Even Ryan Kasprzak, brother of last season’s top 4 dancer Evan Kasprzak, was nearly cut from the competition. But the judges gave him a second chance. After the Hip-Hop round, 21 dancers were sent home.

Ballroom Round

The second couples performance was Ballroom, and this round was a little more dramatic. One contestant was elbowed in the face by his partner during the rehearsal. Fortunately they resumed practicing while other couples were performing and managed to pull it off once they hit the stage. The first crumper to ever make it through to Vegas lucked out by landing with a partner who just happens to be a world companion ballroom dancer.

A Shocking Goodbye

After bombing the Hip-Hop round, it was time for Ryan Kasprzak to step up his game. Unfortunately, his Ballroom was even worse. Even though he was one spot shy of making the top 20 last season, the judges had to let him go.
