Top 10 3DS and DS Games 2011

Dec 09, 2011

2011 saw the release of the Nintendo 3DS, the new generation of handheld gaming. If you're getting a 3DS this Christmas, or hoping to get one, here are some games that you should definitely consider for it.

No. 10: Monster Tale

This relatively unknown game is a mix of all things awesome. Monster Tales features a mix of pet simulation, Pokemon, platforming and RPG.

No. 9: Okamiden

Okamiden is the sequel to the popular Okami, which came out for the Wii and Gamecube. The game is similar to The Legend of Zelda, where you must explore dungeons and gain new abilities that will allow you to defeat enemies and bosses.

No. 8: Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition

This fighting game should require no introduction. Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition brings the combo action to the handheld. The game also features pretty good online and StreetPass features.

No. 7: Pokemon Rumble Blast

While not a true Pokemon adventure, Pokemon Rumble Blast is still lots of fun. Play as your favorite Pokemon and fight your way through tons of levels, recruiting new friends along the way with better attacks and stats.

No. 6: Star Fox 64 3D

Do a barrel roll! Star Fox 64 3D is a near-perfect remake of the original Nintendo 64 space fighter game and makes excellent use of 3D graphics.

No. 5: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is another remake of a N64 game. The difference, however, is that this game is highly regarded as the best Zelda game of all time, if not the best game period!

No. 4: Mario Kart 7

The latest installment in the racing series, Mario Kart 7 continues the trend of fun, chaotic driving. This time, gliders, fireballs and kart customization has been added to the blue shells and lightning bolts.

No. 3: Kirby Mass Attack

Just a regular DS game, but Kirby Mass Attack is super fun! Take control of 10 Kirbys all at the same time using just your stylus and the touch screen. The mini-games in this game are also amazing.

No. 2: Professor Layton and the Last Specter

Another regular DS game and another Professor Layton game at that. But like all other Layton games, Professor Layton and the Last Specter is a brilliant mix of heart-warming stories and mind-bending puzzles.

No. 1: Super Mario 3D Land

Mario at his best. Super Mario 3D Land makes full use of 3D graphics with levels that seem to go into the screen as well as more traditional 2D platforming.
