Mewtwo will be back in Pokémon X and Y!

May 01, 2013

Pokemon X and Y is coming out everywhere in the world in October. To help pass the time, Nintendo has been releasing little bits of information now and then. So far have seen the start Pokemon, Eevee's new evolution, and the two legendaries of the game. Recently, we saw images of a new pokemon that looks very much like the orginal legendary Pokémon from Pokémon Blue, Red, and Yellow, Mewtwo.

New Game, New Look

Some of the early discussion about this new Pokémon was that it was Mewthree, an evolution for Mewtwo or another clone of Mew. However, Nintendo just released a new video that clearly shows the connection between Mewtwo and this new Pokemon. The new Pokemon is actually a different form for Mewtwo. Rather than leveling up and evolving into a new Pokemon, the Pokemon is still Mewtwo, just transformed. This is Mewtwo's "Awakened" form and, just like most other transformations and forms, Mewtwo should be able to go back and forth between the normal and awakened form.

The Future of Pokemon

Mewtwo and his new awakened form will play a major role in the upcoming Pokemon movie involving Genesect, which will be coming out on July 13th in Japan. The Pokémon Company International has also confirmed that the new Mewtwo form will also have a role to play in the upcoming Pokemon X and Pokemon Y games in October. They are inviting everyone to debate how this new connection between Mewtwo's normal and awakened form will play in the next generation of Pokémon.
