LEGO: The Hobbit Video Game Announced

Nov 27, 2013

TT Games has re-imagined middle earth before when creating the LEGO: Lord Of The Rings game and there has been some whispers of a new game coming to coincide with the latest Hobbit movie which flies into theaters this holiday.

Well those whispers turned into rumblings when a photo leaked of some French advertising, potentially outing TT Games latest effort. Not long after that picture spread around the web, Warner Bros. officially came out and confirmed the return of the beloved LEGO series in the form of LEGO: The Hobbit. In order to get the game out for this spring though, the developers have decided to focus on adapting only the first 2 parts of the trilogy (for now), An Unexpected Journey, and this holiday's, The Desolation of Smaug.

LEGO: The Hobbit is coming to Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, Wii U, 3DS and PC next spring.

Expect to control Bilbo, Theron and more as you take part in an epic quest to reclaim the couragous Dwarve's home, The Lonely Mountain, which has since been taken over by Smuag.

If you haven't played a LEGO video game yet, the basic premise is simple enough and holds true all of the games. Smash blocks, build devices/structures and team up with a never ending roster of memorable characters to thwart evil, collecting hidden items along the way. A lighter tone with some slapstick comedy is often part a LEGO game's charm as well and all games in the franchise feature multiplayer for some of the better couch co-op out there.

TT Games has covered some of the biggest properties known, including LEGO: Batman and most recently, made possibly their best game yet with LEGO: Marvel Super Heroes. Can they keep the streak alive and deliver another entertaining adventure?

We'll find out soon when Bilbo, Gandalf and Smaug invade our consoles and hand-helds this spring.
