LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 Announcement Trailer

May 29, 2017

By: Max Cannon

Following on the stellar openness of the original, we've got our first full trailer for LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 and a nice November release date along with it.

Marvelous World of LEGO

More open than most LEGO games -- excluding the open worlds of the LEGO Dimensions level packs -- the original LEGO Marvel Super Heroes was one of our first forays into the world of LEGO in the PS4/Xbox One generation. Cramming together characters that haven't spent as much time together on the big screen, including Spider-Man and Wolverine, it was also one of the earliest Superhero games on the current generation of consoles.

Here's what we had to say about the original game.

"LEGO Marvel Super Heroes is TT Games strongest effort to date. It's filled with charming, beautifully realized LEGO Marvel characters, buckets of wit and a visual polish that truly does the Marvel Universe justice. There's a seemingly endless amount of character's and secrets to find. Including Stan Lee, who you'll run across from time to time, in need of assistance. If you've played the LEGO games before, you'll find a refined gameplay system that works better than it ever has and if you're coming into the LEGO game series fresh, this is as good a place to start as any."

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 seems to build on the world of the original while leaning a little harder into Marvel's Cinematic Universe. Cashing in on the adorableness of Baby Groot and Rocket Raccoon's bromance/romance/relationship, we see a lot of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Thor, who will star in Thor: Ragnarok later this year, rounds out the end of the trailer, as well. We even see a bit of Spider-Man, my favorite hero, as he swings through the city.

You'd better believe that we're excited to play that game. Here's what the team behind the game had to say:

"LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 is an all-new, epic adventure and sequel to the smash hit, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes. This original branching storyline, co-written by comic book veteran Kurt Busiek, transports players into a cosmic battle across a myriad of Marvel locations ripped from time and space into the incredible open hub world of Chronopolis. Packed with signature LEGO humor for fans of all ages, gamers will go head-to-head with the time-travelling Kang the Conqueror through Ancient Egypt, The Old West, Sakaar, New York City in 2099 and many other Marvel settings.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 will be available starting November 14, 2017 for PlayStation®4, Xbox One®, and PC. The game will be released for Nintendo Switch™ this holiday."

That final line obviously suggests that the Nintendo Switch won't be adding the game to its library immediately, however, a holiday release isn't far off from the November release that'll hit other platforms.
