Bethesda's E3 2017 Press Conference Recap

Jun 12, 2017

By: Max Cannon

Bethesda is new to E3, they've always had a huge presence on the show floor but their press events are still young when compared to the competition. With their vision widening with VR, and almost all of their upcoming games out on the table, Bethesda could really surprise us this conference.

Bethesda VR

Showing off a VR-ready version of Doom through an HTC Vive and then followed it up by confirmed VR support for HTC Vive and then followed it up by confirmed VR support for HTC Vive and then followed it up by confirmed VR support for HTC Vive and then followed it up by confirmed VR support for Fallout 4. At the moment we've only seen confirmation for HTC HTC Vive but I'd imagine we may hear more about Oculus and maybe even PlayStation VR.

Expect to see a release date later this summer for these add-ons.

Bethesda Reminds Us of The Elder Scrolls Online Morrowind

While this chunk of info also reminded us of an upcoming pack to Legends, Bethesda's online card game, we also got a look at the return to Morrowind in The Elder Scrolls Online  The DLC has been kicking around for a bit and has been pretty well received for the most part.

But that wasn't the end of the Skyrim related news. We also saw another reminder that Skyrim would be coming to the Nintendo Switch but with a few cool surprises to come along with it. Motion controls for combat and lockpicking come alongside some cool Zelda/Amiibo support. The Legend of Zelda outfits and gear make their way into Skyrim, including the Master Sword.

Concluding our time with both The Elder Scrolls and Skyrim, we saw Bethesda's new Creation Club. This will be an incoming program that will create more mods, sometimes costing money, but will work with the teams at Bethesda and the mod creators. It's definitely confusing but explained in this video!

Creation Club will fully launch by the end of Summer this year.

Big Sequels For Bethesda Games

Bethesda closed out their show with some more information about some of their biggest franchises that aren't directly developed by Bethesda. Things were kicked off with some Dishonored 2 spin-off content. Seemingly putting characters in control of Billie, your rowboat guide in Dishonored 2, as she and the captain venture forth to take on the Outsider, a mysterious figure from previous entries who grants powers to our heroes and villains.

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider will release as a standalone piece of content on September 15th.

Bethesda's reboot of Quake is still a PC exclusive but they'll be adding in Wolfenstein's BJ Blazkowicz. The game's fast fluid gameplay feels as reminiscent of Quake as ever and adding in a classic character feels like a step in the right direction. On top of that we got our first looks at The Evil Within 2, which releases on Friday the 13th in October 2017, and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, which releases on October 27, 2017.

All three of these games look very well made and to be hits from Bethesda but heads up that they're all M rated games.
