Find out why the web-slinging, boss-battling action of the Spider-Man 3 video game is a frustrating mess with Gary’s game review!

The Spider-Man 3 movie hit theaters on May 4, 2007 and the game dropped the day before for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and even more game systems. It brings Spider-Man, Green Goblin, Venom and Sandman from the movie to life, and adds a bunch of extra villains from the comic books! If you were one of the first to grab a copy of the web-slinger's newest video game adventure... sorry we couldn't warn you in time. It's like some sort of fun-sucking supervillain got their hands on this game. Gary has the 411 on the mess with his Spider-Man 3 game review.

Web-Slinging Mayhem!

Popping this game into your system puts you in charge of Spidey through all the action of the movie, and more! You can zip around New York on webs, fight crime all over the city, crawl through massive sewers, battle super-powered bosses and even play bonus levels with MJ.

Superhero Action!

The best news about the Spider-Man 3 game is that it's massive. Not only can you explore all of NY, you can also hit the huge sewer system for a look at the stinky side of the big apple. Plus, you get the three villains from the movie as well as the Lizard, Scorpion and Kingpin for twice the mayhem.

Frustration and Failure!

Holy cow, this game has problems. First off, battling bad guys is frustrating cuz you can't lock-on to them - so if you KO a guy with punch two of a combo, you'll keep swinging at air for the rest of the combo while his buddies thump you. If that's not bad enough, the graphics are weak! Spider-Man looks awesome, but everybody else is ho-hum and even the city looks dull. The biggest bummer is the boss battles though - the only way to hurt the bosses is to wait for them to attack you and pull a counter-attack move! Anything else gets you beaten senseless, so the battles are a total pain in the butt.

Super or Stupid?

The movie's a snore and the game's no better! Even with huge levels and lots of bosses, the awkward fighting, ho-hum graphics and lame boss battles sink this sucker. Unless you're a hardcore Spider-Man fan, give this jumbled mess of a game a miss. Save your allowance and wait for the new Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer movie and game to arrive.

Thumbs Up:

  • Web-sling around New York as Spidey!
  • It's a huge game with tons of action and bosses.

Thumbs Down:

  • Fighting is awkward and frustrating.
  • The graphics aren't very good.
  • Boss battles suck.
